Aviation Video Surveillance
& Weather Observation System
Designed on a portable skid-mounted platform, AVSWOS provides the nation’s
airports with video surveillance and weather observations using the
latest wireless technologies. This unique system is integrated into
a 30’ patent pending tower design, developed by Mobile Equipment
International. The tower is equipped with solar-power and is capable
of broadband Internet and network communications. Rapid system deployment
allows installation to be achieved in days rather than the current standard
of several months.
Because this system can extend its technologies beyond the airport
to many critical areas of a community, funding would not rely solely
on the FAA. In fact, sources of funding could include local severe
weather and emergency broadcast programs, economic and telecommunications
development programs, Homeland Security and emergency management funds.
A lease program is available with little or no up-front costs and
may be customized to meet various requirements. Cost projections for
AVSWOS are comparable to the current industry standard for ASOS/AWOS.
